1.0 out of 5 stars Not a happy videographer, November 20, 2008
Length:: 0:23 Mins

I purchased this mic back in April and didn't use it much, though I think I remember it working OK. I've had it in storage for pretty much 6 months. I recently wanted to record some video with a lavalier mic, and this is what I get. I've tried several different batteries and have attempted plugging the mic into a recorder instead of having it plugged into the camera. As you might guess, the quality doesn't get any better. I'm in the midst of scrambling to find a new mic now. Thanks for nothing Audio-Technica.

This is crazy. My mic has no hissing at all. I heard somewhere you often need adapters for Sony products. Otherwise this is defective since this little Mic is amazingly clear

There is definitely something not correct. It is normally crystal clear. I've had 3 of them over the years with no issues but it sound like your has been damaged or is defective. Not sure under what conditions it was stored but if there is any chance the wire got crimped, it may be the cause.

It is my understanding that Sonys work best with their own proprietary (sp?) microphones.

Most likely it was the dimmer switch or other device near by that caused that.
