I have the impression it is a bit stronger than the free version.
You have good options such as handicaps, timed games, save and load game and can choose from several board styles and 10 difficulty levels.
However, it looks to me that after an aggressive opening and a good midgame it slacks off towards late midgame.
For an average chess player like me this means if I survive the initial assault I win - it's almost as if the AI gets tired.
It would be nice if you could force a particular opening but it's not essential.
I recommend this program though I think Rival Chess is stronger.
