This review is from: CW-X Conditioning Wear Compression Support Running Sock (Apparel)
With my chronic high blood pressure and working in a manufacturing facility with concrete floors, I've been a long time advocate and user of support hose. (Check out my review of Truform 15-20, mmHg of Compression Dress-Style Support Socks, Mens Large, Black (Pack of 2).) When I took up running and started having trouble with runner's knee, I was thinking that support hose would help me out there, too, but I couldn't exactly wear knee-high black dress socks with jogging shorts to take my morning runs. (I prefer to stay off YouTube.) These socks filled a niche, therefore, so I decided to give them a try. Right out of the box, I could tell these were going to be tight. The fibers seem to be woven to flex and pull in different directions, and with the overall tightness,it was even a bit of a chore to get them on. The length was just right the first time I put them on, but the second time, they started to creep over the knee, messing with my knee brace and causing a little discomfort at the back of the knee. I don't really have an issue with this, though, as they tightened up a little when washed and settled into a good, correct, not-over-the-knee length. They provide excellent support during runs, both with and without running tights, and when I wore them to work, I did not have my usual swollen calves at the end of the day. These are a little pricey compared to regular dress support hose, though, so during cold weather, I might just buy cheaper, plain compression socks to get the same results at about half the price. But since I don't want to look too dorky, I'll keep these handy for fair weather run support. All in all, this is a very good compression sock for sports or otherwise, and any product that performs as expected, including this one, rates 5 stars in my book.
