This review is from: The Time Weaver (The Time Weaver Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)The Time Weaver by Thomas A. Knight is a fast-paced fantasy adventure about a computer geek named Seth Alkirk and a battle between good vs. evil. He's a nice guy that comes to find out he can do more than just control computers. It turns out Seth is what's known as a Time Weaver. Among other things, he can control the flow of time. Seth is drawn into a world he knows nothing about, told stories about his father who left him, and is expected to help defend a nation against a grave threat.
Too often characters get all weak and whiny when faced with huge obstacles. However, Seth takes on the responsibility fairly well and doesn't spend a lot of time feeling sorry for himself or shrugging off the burden. He learns quickly and eagerly. During battles, Seth makes it count when his bountiful talents are needed.
One of my favorite things is that the magic isn't just fluffy stuff like levitation spells. Thomas writes about magic that will literally melt your face! So, you know the magic slingin' ain't a game. Thomas also includes my favorite fantasy creature, a dragon by the name of Morganateltheranthumagus. Or Morganth for short. Serious magic + dragons = a happy Tim.
I think it's important to note that there is also a little love story in Time Weaver. Seth falls in love with his protector, Malia Corsair. She's a solid character in her own right. Reading a story just about her, before meeting Seth, would be cool. Romance is not a big focus of the story but there is just enough to add depth to the characters and strengthen Seth's will to fight.
So, what's the downside? For me the only downside is that the sequel isn't out yet! I flew through this book quick 'cause I enjoyed it so much. I am ready for more.
This story is best for those who love fantasy and an alternate universe.
