My first Fire Emblem game and it won't be the last!,
This review is from: Fire Emblem: Awakening (Video Game)
After stressing over not being able to find a good tactical RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, I came across previews for Fire Emblem: Awakening. While I've previously heard of the series, this is the first time I played this series, and it definitely it one of the most fun games for the 3DS currently in existence, and likely will be even years from now.
First off, the graphics are simply amazing. All the characters and movements are very clear-cut and lucid, immersing the players into the game's fictional kingdoms and battle factions. The cutscenes are, of course, excellent as well, and I especially enjoyed the opening cutscene. The characters are very beautifully drawn as well; Marth's androgynous looks provides an unique contrast to Chrom's more masculine looks, to which the voices of both fit very well.
The battle and leveling system is also ingenious. Having never played a Fire Emblem game before, I was surprised to find that the attacks are reminiscent of some Final Fantasy games but with more intricate stats. The job system is also interesting and easier to switch (once the right items are obtained) than that of FFIII.
Mostly though, I'm super curious to try out combinations of character pairings and recruit their kids into my party. The amount of playable characters in this game makes for hours of great fun to try out different pairings and discover new dialogue. This is a very nice game with a deep plot and complex characters. Definitely a game any RPG lover will spend weeks playing!
