broke after only 7 months,
This review is from: Cuisinart CSB-76W SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, White (Kitchen)
The coupling that is inside the motor body housing broke after only 7 months use and we did not put excessive wear on it. Cuisinart must know this thing is a piece of junk, because it has a 3 year warranty. They make you pay shipping to return it and shipping and handling to get another one.
My take, do not buy this.

My experience exactly - that the coupling is what broke after just a year or so of light use - not the motor and not the blade end - just the coupling! As a result, however, I bill buy another one! The unit works so very well that I don't believe there is anything better for $30 out there where you don't have to worry about nasty residue getting trapped inside. The design is great but the decision to couple with plastic was certainly a mistake. Problem with Wally's half-the-price blenders is that they appear to be less than half the quality!

To add another data point for 'broke after 7 months', mine is about a year out and although the coupling appears intact, the bearings in the blade/shaft side are completely shot. I get a screeching sound when I turn it on, and I can now shift the driveshaft/blade assembly back and forth several mm (couldn't do this when it was new).
Disappointing to hear that processing charges make the warranty worthless, but thanks for saving me the trouble.
