Bad Company Rocks!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bad Company: Hard Rock Live (CD+DVD) (Audio CD)
This concert dvd was recorded at Bad Company's one-off show in Hollywood, Florida in August, 2008. For some of the earlier reviewers who said Mick Ralphs didn't sound as sharp as he used to, this may be why. From my understanding, they had very little rehearsal time before performing this show. I got the chance to see the band ten months later in Michigan and they sounded great; Mick seemed to be handling the solos quite well that night. Getting to the dvd, I think it's a must-have for any Bad Company fan. Paul is as sharp as ever vocally; there are a couple of musical missteps, specifically on Rock Steady and a lyric screw up on Burning Sky, but that just makes it seem more like a real live performance. The chemistry between Paul, Mick, and Simon is great, Howard and Lynn are stellar, as usual. It's great to see Paul smiling ear to ear throughout this show. For true Paul Rodgers die-hards, watching him have to breathe life into the Queen stuff for several years was bitter-sweet; we got to see him play, but you can tell his heart and soul is truly with this music. Honey Child, Gone, Gone, Gone, Feel Like Making love and Simple Man are just fantastic. The original three members go to the front of the stage for an acoustic performance of Sea Gull that will give you chills. I guarantee if you purchase this dvd, you'll watch it over and over and find something new to appreciate each time.

I was at this show, and it could have been jitters from not having played together in so long. And at the time, it was supposed to be a one-off show and that was it. (Although from where I was sitting (8 rows back) they were amazing). And this show went so well, they decided to do a 10 date tour, in which they returned to the same venue 8 months later. Of course, I was at that show too. This thing is hard to get, the stores don't carry it, you have to order it online. I ordered mine from Target, and it just shipped yesterday. I can't wait to get it. Maybe I'll see myself in the crowd. Oh, I also ran into Howard Leese in the casino after the show and got a guitar pick from him. Good times.

I had a hard time getting mine, as well. Amazon was sold out at first. It's a great dvd and well worth the wait; I just wish they would have had some extras, like backstage interviews or something. If you don't already have it, Merchants of Cool is also a must-have. And if you're really into Paul, get the Live in Glasgow dvd. It's mostly Free material and it is awesome!

Saw both shows, same as you. You are right about the CD/DVD combo. Very hard to find. Supposedly the Blu-Ray is in stores but every store I called didn't have it but in the UK the CD/DVD is supposedly a hot seller. Go figure. Target claims the item will be "arriving soon", let us know if you got it. I'm leery of ordering seeing "arriving soon" on the item.
