Big but Slow,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer CZ36 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive- SDCZ36-032G-B35 (Personal Computers)
I love having this flash drive with me everywhere I go. I can haul around massive amounts of data in my pocket for use or viewing/listening anywhere. HOWEVER, it's the slowest flash drive I've ever used. My most recent previous one was a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB and it was fast. This flash drive, however, is slower than all other flash drives and external drives I've used. Soooo.... I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to carry around a lot of data but isn't worried about lightning-speed data transfers.

I agree. Its insanely slow. I was going to use it as a boot drive for my Macs, but its way to slow for that. Ugh,

I'm not sure why you say the SanDisk Cruzer 32GB is "the slowest flash drive I've ever used". Mine seems to get 4MB/sec write and 16MB/sec read, which is about the same as my old SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16GB.

4MB/sec. writes on my SanDisk Cruzer 32GB as well, which would take approximately two hours to fill it up 30GB of data. At least it reads faster, but the write speed is fairly impractical for a drive of this size, depending on what you're doing and how soon you need it.

Thanks for the heads up on the speed of this drive. I hate buying these things only to find out they are painfully slow.

Not a bad buy, but you won't be able to use all 32 GB with the Xbox as it's limited to 16 GB on any USB storage devices.

Let me suggest the Mushkin Enhanced Mulholland drives - very fast and well constructed.

Me too, I just got it in the mail and speed tested it, can you say abysmal speeds! My walmart special 16gb drive is over twice as fast in write and 30% faster read. This Drive had these results(took 3 hrs for read and write test)
Writing speed: 3.95 MByte/s
Reading speed: 14.1 MByte/s
Only thing I can figure is it has an over aggressive error compensation in its main controller, how else can they sell such a large capacity for so cheap. I really wonder how many layers this MLC NAND is using, it certainly would explain the horrible write speeds. Well, you get what you pay for unfortunately. In a couple years with SLC USB 3 flash drives, this will really be a relic.
