2.0 out of 5 stars pretty expensive for what you get, October 23, 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Skylanders Giants Portal Owner Pack - Playstation 3 (Video Game)
I am writing this review for my 11 year old son. He loved the first skylanders game and collected all the guys. He saved his money and bought the new game and reached the end in less than 24 hours. He felt cheated. He said you don't even need all the new giants and figures to play the game. The one it come with is all you really need. He was disappointed because there are only 16 levels and they are to easy to beat. He thought this game should have been about half the price he paid for it, because you only got about half a game.

You only needed the three characters the 1st one came with to beat it. I'm sorry they didn't make you buy 2038 toys to beat the game?

This time around they added harder difficulties for people who want more of a challenge. He should try that out.

Actually, it's 16 levels versus the original which had 22...not quite half a game. No, you don't need all the characters...but then again, you only get as much fun out of it as you want.

The levels are also larger, and longer than original levels.

It took me 25 minutes to get through level 3 last night, but that's because I wasn't rushing through I was exploring as much as possible. Then there is heroic challenges, leveling up all the skylanders, etc... it's not as short a game as Some think.

But on top of that, I don't think every game needs to be a 200 hour investment. 24 hours is actually pretty decent.

Most of the fun I got from the first game was leveling up all the characters (I managed to collect all but boomer) and getting the new abilities and leveling those up all the way. The game length was kinda short, but very replayable with all the different play styles afforded by the different abilities of the characters.

If he beat the game in less then 24 hours, then you are doing something wrong. No kid should be allowed to seat and play video games that long. They should be play in moderation.
