It does however have one of the worst MMO players out there. As if all the rotten left-overs of cesspool players off of Warcraft, Star-Wars, and other mmo's decided to join the game in their prejudice and discrimination circles of anything remotely Asian.
Never seen an MMO community as bad as this one in my years of gaming. Nor companies that goes out the way to condemn players for playing a game based on a race while breaking a game at the same time.
Partially due to game-enforced censorship, there is a very biased and bizarre "moral crusade" against manga/anime elements or artwork while both company and players boast of westernization (which in short is nothing more than content removals.) on a manwha/pop-culture art-styled mmo. Tera's poor community players seek to attack, belittle, mock, and get away with easy bullying of players who play Elin-class on a continuous basis both forum and in-game to this date. The attitude of players in general is pretty selfish, cocky, and full of flamatory comments in regards to any topic but especially towards Bishojou and Magic Girl genre(Elins).
- Lack of Direction and Ignoring What Matters-
En-Masse Entertainment and Frogster offers a censored, and buggier version of Tera Online, doing whatever they please with the game under the guise of "making it better"(removing things that are not broken or have problems, and not improving things that are such as Nexus Lags) with the mule of being the "only or first action mmo" (despite dungeon and dragons, vindictus, monster-hunter, loco online and other MMO's and games who have action rpg before Tera). Content is diminished from the game with little to no replacements for what's been lost , and the disability of fixing both old and publisher-created bugs that have been long-set into the game with only impulse buy temporary and seasonal cash-shop items and teasers as poor supplements.
Only recently the fully functioning crafting quests that were removed during Closed-Beta were put-back after numerous threads about content cuttings and the 3-server merge drop (PVE, PVP and RP-PVE). Quest were pulled with no particular reason and now serve as a small filler for the little content and redundant combat remaining in the rest of the game.
-Overzealous Censoring Has The Potential of Damaging A Product-
This game unfortunately is a sad example of witch-hunt supported censorship, promotion of player discrimination based on fictional races in a video-game, and disregard of freedom of expression (including artwork) in a pseudo story filled with mythological creatures and fantasy themes, and a greed-driven company ripping its players off. Fans of manwha, or those who simply like the elin race are often and unfairly subjected to criminalization for playing a class in a game they brought and fully paid for with their money(Frogster has made generalization comments of those who wish to play as an elin being "Unsavory Users"). No different than condemning and criminalizing fans because they decide to watch Strike-Witches or any other licensed animated show for the exact same M-rating and similar content.
Meaning of the story-lines have been since been altered including(Two-Tails has been changed from an assassination plot to a quarry over a flag), graphics, quests, and game content while demolishing the entire game in the most T or lower-rated fashion for a supposed M-rated title.
-Tera Online=Real Life-
Tera Online is only treated as a video-game when it comes to other classes in the game, not the entirety of the game itself. Unfortunately this can ruin the game-experience for those who do not choose the "Designated En-Masse/Frogster Promoted Classes in which Tera is 'acceptable' because we say so". There have been bathing-suits released that have a very similar resemblance of the armors of the only race censored in the entire game. These money-grabs required an extra $15 dollars from the cash-shop than the original armors that came in the uncensored game free of charge.
Both $15 suits and original armors can be found here: http://i.imgur.com/x0BjC.png
It is a sad situation that a company can so easily rip-off players from pre-provided game content with biased censorship. Yet require expensive price-tags of similar product designs within a cash-shop uncensored.
Fortunately several other vendors such as Funanimation, Seven Seas Publishing and different U.S. publishers deliver the full content of their products for reasonable price without biased censoring or cut-backs.
The game has not and probably never will improve since it's launch. In addition to flunking in all 4 countries it was published in. Merge is not reflected in the now dead +7 server forum section on the website.
It appears these companies also decide to take player ideas off the forums and put them inside the game as a cash-shop filler or gimmick for lack of content provided on their side. No credit or reference is given for player-inspired ideas.
A fair warning that posting your works or ideas on en-masse forums may find their way inside the game by a tricky TOS which claims anything posted will become the "companies property".
Sheer amount of salesman greed never ceases to amaze me on how some MMOs are handled. Tera is literally being ran by out-of-pocket-expensive pricey cash-shop purchases in a still Play to Pay game. Buy 1 or 2 items from the cash-shop and the price can end up as much as the initial box tag itself.
Do not be fooled by the P2P tag as justification for the "price". Tera Online is ran like a cheap Free-To-Play quality with still as much holes and guttings as it's previous released months.
Would not recommend wasting money or time on a recent dying game that may well be soon on it's way out( Lawsuits, Lay-Offs, 4th going On-Sale, Server Merges, Bad Communities,Rip-Offs,Biased Companies, ect). There's better games and products to spend nearly $50-$100 dollars on(or less) and actually get your moneys worth. The sales just there to lure people into buying what might end up being a plastic brick and dead game in the future.
Crisp graphics that can be seen in any newer korean MMO. Nicely done for a manwha art-styled game.
Game Advertises to be "True Action Combat" or "First True Action Combat". Lots of animation-locks and repeats of "Aim, Kill, Aim". Repetitive grinds and recycled monsters in later levels with no real change of pace or content. Cash-shop is often used as a filler for what is lacking in game-play.
One of the worst biased MMO player-types under one title. Would not recommend.
Censorship of game content and player-forums. Often ignores players requests for better game content. Bugs unfixed for months and game-content or mechanics ends up being selectively removed. BBB ratings low. Would not recommend. Game could have been handled better under different publishers.
