We envy this?,

Triburbia is set in Tribeca and is a series of vignettes that link the lives of a number of couples who all know each other. Throughout the book, you get different perspectives on these people, since every person sees the world a bit differently. The reader is pulled into the lives of people who live in a very moneyed, snobbish world that is very interconnected. The author does a wonderful job of showing a world most of us will never enter, and after reading the book, realizing that there is nothing in that world to envy. Most of the characters were fortunate enough to have purchased some real estate in Tribeca when it was affordable, but they aren't necessarily the traditional rich folks that one would expect would live in Tribeca. The author uses an interesting method of referring to the characters by their occupations (the photographer, the gangster, the sculptor, etc) and that ends up being a very effective way of keeping the characters identifiable.
I thought the narrative technique of telling this story was just wonderful. The "voices" are from each physicial address featured in the novel, but they tell a complete story in the end. This is an author I will watch and follow.
