5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Sandal, June 20, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Birkenstock Unisex Arizona Sandal (Apparel)
I have big feet - and so I am limited in the brands and styles of sandals I can wear. I just bought my fourth pair of these sandals, and I get between two and three years wear from each pair of sandals.

This is especially good when you consider that I live in Florida and wear sandals almost all the time.

They generally stay on because they have ridges on the insole that your feet can grab. The arch support is excellent.

I have never had the uppers fail - eventially I wear the soles clean off and then they need to be replaced.

I wear a 16 extra wide when I wear something like a New Balance sneaker, and even then it has to have a high toe box. The size 48 is more or less a 15 US Mens, which works for me as a sandal.

I've taken mine in to a local shoe repair and had the heels (and maybe soles once?) replaced half a dozen times. Also had the cork fixed twice. After TWELVE YEARS of almost exclusively wearing these (even in pouring rain--not recommended), they FINALLY need replacement because I got careless and used them too often for garden digging, home repairs, and other jobs when I should have worn sneakers or boots. I've tried a couple pairs of cheap sandals, which only last a few months, so I'm coming back to genuine Birkenstocks!

Nice review. When I click on size it says 46, 47, 48, etc etc EU. WHAT is EU?

In reply to an earlier post on May 11, 2013 5:59:30 PM PDT
EU is European sizing. I wear a 10 US which is a 43 EU. You can easily Google your size to convert it to EU sizing. I hope this helps.

I wear size 12 shoes, but the size 11 Arizonas fit like a glove.
