Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Harry Potter Hard Cover Boxed Set: Books #1-7 (Hardcover)
I am a big Harry Potter fan and am no less than thrilled to pieces to finally own the complete set of books. (and in hardback no less) The books in this collector's set are the same books (content, artwork, cover and all) that have been sold before individually.

Yet I'm somewhat disappointed, if not slightly disillusioned that the "special collectors case" was a huge letdown. Given the obvious fact that Harry is huge worldwide, it would had behooved the publishers to do right by this commemorative set and make the case out of engineered wood (at the very least!) Instead they opted for the cheaper route and decided to make it out of... drum roll please.... CARDBOARD!

I dunno, maybe I was expecting to much?! (sigh...) 5 stars for Harry & minus one for the presentation...

NOOOOOOO...the cardboard bit is kinda dissapointing...I was expecting "engineered wood" as well....I mean I already have all 7 books....but it's a gift and thats all that matters...argh....curse you profit seeking publishers....

I agree, the box does not have any with the original photography shown in amazon. I am completely surprised because I never waited this from Amazon.com

Yes.. it is rather disappointing, however in the overall scheme of things, I think all that matters to me is that I have the complete set, and for less than it woud have cost me had I bought the books individually. The icing on the cake would have been if the "case" were actually useful and attractive enough to display the books in. Sadly the "case" is really only fit to ship the books in and not much else.

At last! The whole collection was to be mine and in a replica of Harry's suitcase!! What more could I ask for? Sadly, I now know. I needed to ask for a spell so I could use my magic wand and transform that pathetic piece of cardboard holding my beloved books into a case worthy of them. A curse on them I say!

Yes we agree looking for a timber box to house the special Harry Potter Books!

While a cardboard case is slightly disappointing, I can't imagine how much a wooden box would hike up the price. It's already retailed for $200--a wooden case would really shoot that price up.

Grace 2004 says:
Its amazing how cheap you can get a wood box made, so there is no excuss for the cardboard box....none except greed.

Where does it state that these seven books are unabridged? That is my concern.
