worse than HORRIBLE!,
This review is from: Memorex 8.5 GB 8 X Double Layer DVD+R - 50 Pack Spindle (Electronics)
These are horrible. I am using a Mac Pro with both a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112D (built in SuperDrive) and a Sony DVD RW DRU-804A (a standard internal Sony DVD drive). I was previously using Imation DVD+R DL with absolutely no problems. These discs however would be a joke... if they were funny. I opened a new spindle of 25 and quickly went through 5 discs in an attempt to find a working one. I finally realized that if the disc touches anything, and I mean anything at all...i.e. set carefully on a smooth desk for even a moment while opening the drive...the disk will be scratched beyond usability. Carefully writing on the disc, while it sits on notebook paper and the disk has permanent marks on the burn surface. Is there any scratch protection? Buy these disks if you need some shiny coasters. When I finally got a disc that would even burn (disc #6 of 25) it got to 99% and gave me an error message. Like I said, asside from the hole in the middle, COASTERS!
UPDATE: They do work, about 60% of the time, if you use nothing faster then 2X. >:-(
Seems like Memorex took some perfectly sub-par 2.4x DVD+R DLs and encoded them to run at 8x.
