Chilling & Fascinating.,
This review is from: The Hunger Games (Book 1) (Paperback)
It's a novel about survival in a brutal, brutal cruel and crazy world. I kept wondering, is the author trying to give us a message about our reality voyeuristic TV crazy world of today? And honestly, as much as I am sickened about the crap that gets passed on as "entertainment" on TV today - I still found it hard to believe that anyone in 21st century America could enjoy a real "Hunger Games" - fighting to the death for the sole purpose of satisfying the requirements of "the state". But, that being said - and the chilling brutality never made me feel comfortable, I enjoyed the novel for it's suspense, action and just great story telling. There's a bit, just a bit, of a love story & in fact that is a crazy juxtaposition against the brutal heartless world of the Hunger Games. It's a well written, well told story - and not predictable. That makes it a good read in my mind - and of course there's a "series", so yes - I'm looking to buy Book 2! Definitely recommend.
