1.0 out of 5 stars NOT HIKVision camera!, January 7, 2014
By
This review is from: Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I 3MP IR Fixed Focal Dome Camera 2.8mm (Electronics)
I received two cameras that looked very similar to the HIKVision camera, but they were actually knock-offs and are these: [...]

The boxes have the WINIC logo (not HIKVision) and the cameras are not branded.

Though I don't understand why you were provided with a different camera than the description, keep in mind that Hikvision makes cameras for many other vendors world wide and sold under various brands, like Q-See, Lorex, etc. It's more likely that the camera you received IS a Hikvision made unit, sold by Winitech as a house brand. It would be interesting to see which software is used to control it or if it's exactly the same as the Hikvision clients but, again, just branded differently!

I ordered one from HD Sec Store just to see. It is indeed Winitech branded and has that as the logo on the admin page.

But, it takes a Hikvision firmware just fine and seems to have all the features.

I'm with you that underneath it's just a hikvision and I shouldn't care. But, I'm a bit peeved that they are sold AS Hikvision and not Winitech. Obviously the seller knows if they put Winitech in the title, noone would buy them.

Also, Hikvision is likely not going to cover warranty on a Winitech branded camera. On the other hand, Hikvision's website claims NONE of the Amazon re-sellers are licensed and is therefore likely to not warranty Hikvision branded cameras either(bought from amazon sellers).

Nelly's is also not an authorized dealer according to Hikvision's website: http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/UnauthorizedDistributors.asp
