I really loved this book,
This review is from: Keeping You a Secret (Paperback)
This is my second book that I've read from Julie Anne Peters. I have never been disappointed whenever I read a book from this author. I adore her writing style in both KEEPING YOU A SECRET and LUNA. The way she discribes things in both books is very vivid and emotional.
In KEEPING YOU A SECRET, this book has been one of the best lesbian young adult books I've read since ANNIE ON MY MIND last year. The romance is a little fluffy and has some instant-love connection to it, but overall it was very cute and realistic. Some of the realism almost hurt a little bit to read about since so many teens sometimes have lives that are like that where they are shunned. No one should have to hide their sexuality and if someone dates someone else (or if they date a lot of others).
Even though I loved LUNA, I feel that KEEPING YOU A SECRET was the better book for tackling sensitive issues. Both books are very realistic and spoke to me, but this book hit something emotionally inside of me. The emotions were very strongly felt, and I could sympathize with Holland so much on some many things about being pressured to fit a mold at school and fulfilling premade plans. It also helped that I liked Holland's personality more than Regan.
In short I really loved this book. I will always treasure this book.
