5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Statham movie., June 28, 2013
This review is from: Redemption (Amazon Instant Video)
And a good movie on its own, too. I loved the set-up,the flow of the story was good and there were a few surprises. I was with him all the way on his journey as he fell into a good though dubious oppertunity. The sub-plots were good as well. I didn't know what would come next and liked the unexpected ending. As a movie, I give it four stars, but as a Statham movie I give it a big five stars. Saw it last night and still thinking about it.

Stratham is always a surprise ending. When he breaks his code, etc. He's among the elite fighting actors, like John Wayne, Jean Reno, etc., who know how to create drama by breaking their own bullheaded views on life. I don't want spoil the best for others - but I especially enjoyed watching the sex scene through a door slot. Fighting typically lasts seconds in real life, the rush coming a minute before and a minute after - escaping the scene, which director Steven Knight captures perfectly. That was the focal point and extraordinary.

Far better than James Bond, for example, who talks his opponent to death for five minutes or longer. Stratham just gets better and better in each new movie, and all I can think of to summarize this one is that a disgruntled NSA consultant recently reminded us someone else shares your home too...

Thanks for commenting Creg. Yes, it was that 'share the home' that really got me into the story. Illegal and morally wrong too, but he used that 'oppertunity' to best advantage after hearing the message on the phone and getting the mail. That really intrigued me. And how he told the apt managers that he was a friend, cool as can be. Yes, Stratham has lots of surprises in him and I like his direct approach.

Yes, I'm a big John Wayne fan, too. Rio Bravo is my #1 favorite movie. Big Jake, The Alamo, North to Alaska, The Shootist and on and on. I wish he could make some more movies for us. But 'Redemtion' had a good story for me.
