5.0 out of 5 stars Cover disappears, June 17, 2011
This review is from: Kindle Leather Cover, Black, Updated Design (Fits Kindle Keyboard) (Accessory)
In the same way that the Kindle was designed to "disappear -- just like a physical book -- so you can get lost in your reading, not the technology," so it is with this leather cover. The cover does its job of protecting my Amazon Kindle without getting in my way. The cover is made of rich, elegant pebbled leather. It feels pleasant in my hand, I can read it with the cover open (like a book) or I can bend the cover back to read one-handed. My Kindle is securely held by two hinges or clips, leaving the entire Kindle free of encasement--a feature that I really like. The elastic strap fits smartly into a groove on the front of the cover. It also can be used to hold the cover back if I want to read one-handed. I purchased my cover from Target because I really wanted to see and feel it before I made the purchase. I recommend this cover for your Kindle.

This cover comes in a lighted version which is more expensive, but it's worth the extra money. Once you have it, you'll never be sorry. I have a wi-fi 6" in gray with a burgundy lighted cover, and a wi-fi/3g 6" in white with a lime green lighted cover (given as a gift to a student going overseas). All the colors are nice, I think, but I got brighter colors because I thought they would be easier to find than the black or brown when hiding on my cluttered desk or in my sloppy book bag. Too bad that the only white Kindle is the wi-fi/3g 6" version.

The lighted cover isn't too great from my perspective. It barely lights the bottom third of the page. I have to strain to read at the bottom. :(
I may return mine for the non-lighted one.

Just depends on your own preferences. I'm completely satisfied with my wifi and don't need the 3G. However, if you travel or for some other reason don't have wifi connection, you may want 3G.

Somehow I can't find dimensions in the product description. I'm interested in the width. Could you, please, measure it?
Thanks a lot!

I would guess it is the same as the cover with the built-in light, minus the light.

Product Dimensions: 3.9 x 2 x 1.2 inches ; 1.8 ounces

I loved the cover when I first got it, however after opening it up maybe 6 to 8 times, one end of the elastic became unattached from the cover. Is this a lemon and should I order another of the same..??? I'm wondering. I'd hate to have it happen again...

I have had my cover for a year and a half with no problems, but elastic detachment seems to be reported in several of the reviews which I have read. Seems to be hit or miss.

I had traded in my broken one and got a new one, but if it happens again, I will try Super Glue...!!!
