** Love your customers more than you love yourself or your business.
** Be willing to close your company if that's best for your customers.
** Everything you do, do for your customers.
Those are three overarching themes of Derek Sivers's excellent work. They don't teach such wisdom in Business School. In my 47 years, I never heard it put so clearly and simply: do it for your customers. Not for you, not for your company.
Think Sivers's approach will leave you broke and ruin your business? Think again. Ninety-nine percent of small business owners would give an organ for half the profits and success of CD Baby.
Think Sivers is a Pollyanna? Wrong. Sivers's message on business is exactly what post-recession consumers demand: people-centric, non-manipulative, and flexible.
