3.0 out of 5 stars This game is better than mgs2 Plant chapter, not up to par with the rest of the metal gear solid games., February 25, 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Video Game)
Finally raiden has his own game, i knew this would eventually happen since mgs4
this game will divide many metal gear solid fans to one question...
are you a fan of raiden? or not?

to me it's a yes, but i'm not a fan of the story
i mean like WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
none of these new characters are interesting to me, except raiden of course.

game-play is too linear, hacking and slashing your way through enemy is a blast though
the bosses are decent, not exciting though.

I'm not going to call this a metal gear game, because it has almost no stealth mechanics
you can't even crouch! i use to love doing that and being all sneaky behind enemies in previous metal gear solid games.

I'll be fair though, and say this is a great hack and slash game that fits raiden characteristic well, DON'T EXPECT SOLID SNAKE, OR ANYTHING METAL GEAR RELATED.

TBH I don't think you can really criticize a metal gear game as being too linear: Metal Gear games by default tend to be fairly linear affairs, MGS4 was half cutscenes and the last 3 acts in particular were VERY straight forward. This is not a criticism of the game, just a point.

Saying a Metal Gear game is too linear is like saying there are too many power-up mushrooms in a Super Mario game. This comes with the territory. If you're looking for a non-linear gaming experience, look elsewhere.
