Action-Packed (and Plenty of Dark Humor),
This review is from: Mardock Scramble 3 (Paperback)
As for the plotline so far, please read my review of Vol. 1 of "Mardock Scramble."
The third volume of manga version of "Mardock Scramble" picks up where the second volume left off. Heroine Rune Ballot and her partner shape-shifting Oeufcoque must face the enemies infiltrating their hideout: five merciless assassins of "Bandersnatch Company" and mysterious Dimsdale Boiled, once the partner of Oeufcoque. But as it turns out, the life-or-death combat is not the only thing that threatens the life of Oeufcoque, someone she cherishes more than anything.
The action-packed volume III largely covers the latter half of the first episode of animated version, and the earlier section of the second one, but in the comic version you can also catch the glimpse of the past history of the "Bandersnatch Company" members. The action scenes contain intense battles and dark humor, and the way the comic mixes them is pretty nice.
Creator Tow Ubukata's story is nothing new, but illustrator Yoshitoki Oima provides effective action sequences. Characters still need more depth but the fast-paced volume III is an improvement on Vol. II.
By the way the blurb on the back cover of the book reads: Includes special extras after the story. There is none. Did I miss something?
