Great for spinning gear.,
This review is from: Sufix Performance Braid 20 lb (150 YD Spool) (Sports)
I've been using The Sufix performance braid 20lb neon fire for 6 months now. I have it on a Mitchell 308XE spinning reel paired with a 6'6" med action Ugly Stik. I love this line. I hated braided line... for years I would try a different braid here or there with mixed but usually negative results. I purchased a spool of this from my local "BPS" and I will definitely buy more next season.
No line memory... I mean zero. It casts like sewing thread it so smooth. It's a pleasure to tie Palomar's, improved clinches and uni's with this line. All those knots always hold tight for me but I usually keep a lighter to burn the tag end to form a little stop anyway.
I've experienced some minor fading/staining but there has never been any issues with any coating transferring to my rod or reel.
When I catfish with this setup around snags I often use a sacrificial flouro leader around 14-15 lbs in order to preserve as much braid as possible and my drag. I tie on a 3-4 ft leader using a "uni" knot and I find I only usually break off my hook this way.
I have not done much bass fishing yet with this line but from what I have done ... I like the feel with medium~deep running crank baits especially... as well as deep drop "shotting" live bait for Striped bass.
I wasn't crazy about it for finessing soft plastics but that's why I keep multiple rigs on me.
Bottom line I think this is an excellent choice for spinning gear. I personally am drooling to put this line on a Van Staal paired with a G. Loomis. Maybe one day.
Thanks for reading.
