DVD Specs, Subtitles, and Christmas Special.,
This review is from: Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey Season 2 (Original U.K. Edition) (DVD)
Amazon doesn't list some important specifications so I'm just posting it here. I got them from the PBS website.
Length : 544 minutes on 3 Discs
Subtitles : Yes
Number of Programs : 9
Includes the Downton Abbey Christmas Special
As for season 2, it's pretty much more Downton Abbey. More Matthew/Mary, Mr. Bates/Anna, and more dastardly Miss O'Brien and Thomas. It's very interesting to see things start to change in the WW1 setting as well and some characters go through some big changes. The Christmas Special in particular is beautifully shot and makes me very excited for season 3 which has already been announced.

Thanks for this. I love Amazon but find it very frustrating when these basic specs are not included, which isn't exactly a rare occurrence. Wanted to be sure that this edition has the Christmas special.

Anthony--what region are these discs? O, 1, 2? Or region free? Thanks.

oh, excellent, i had no idea they had included the christmas special. that makes it about 50x more worth it, since leaving it out would have been a lot like leaving out a big season-finale :)

Thanks. Your input answered a question I had which is how many episodes are there in this season? Also I was very interested in knowing if there were subtitles or closed captioning on the discs because I sometimes have trouble understanding the accents when hearing the actors speak.

Thank you for answering my question about the subtitles! I'm deaf and really need those! It's frustrating how many dvd's come out of England with no subtitles at all!

That's great. I don't know why Amazon doesn't just list this information in the first place.

Can someone who has purchased this clarify if this is actually a widescreen version like season 1? Amazon has the aspect ratio for the standard DVD listed as 1:33:1 which is 'Full Screen,' not 'Widescreen' which is at least 1:78:1. It does however list the blu-ray version at the Widescreen size, leading me to believe Amazon has a typo. The PBS.org site does not seem to list aspect ratios at all...

Ok, after reading all the reviews I'm confused. Is the Downton Abbey: Season 2 (Original U.K. Edition) [Blu-ray] an uncut unedited version of this show? And, I am correct that it DOES include the complete Christmas show?
