3.0 out of 5 stars Poor customer service from Walther, April 10, 2009
This review is from: Life-Like Trains HO Scale Thundering Rails Electric Train Set (Toy)
I really like the track for this train set because of the way it connects.
Apparently our train arrived with the engine damaged underneath and as a result the train will not stay on the track. My husband called the Walther company and had a horrible time getting someone on the phone. When he finally reached someone, they were extremely rude and said he should not have called even though the paper packaged with the train said to call Walther not the retailer for any defects. The cars reminded me of the old birthday toy favors...extremely cheap plastic. I should have known for the number of pieces that one gets at the price I paid... however it had one great review so I took a chance and ordered the set for my husband and son. Perhaps we were unlucky and received the one set that had issues. Good luck if you choose to order this item.

The cars reminded you of old birthday toy favors??? Good luck if you choose to order this item??? Geesh.

Extreme comments like these are annoying. My wife and I just spent HOURS looking for a remote control truck because EVERY truck we looked at had more negative than positive comments. It's impossible to filter through so much complaining! It makes you wonder how in the world these toy manufacturer's stay in business with so many disatisfied customers! My guess is that the people who are satisfied with their purchases are too busy using their products to write anything positive while the people who have issues (big or small) love nothing more than to jump online and gripe about them.

I'm not discounting your frustration however you stated that "apparently" the engine was damaged - and that this damage keeps it from staying on the track. Well, that sounds very fishy to me. What exactly appears to be damaged? How was it damaged - shipping or poor manufacturing? Or perhaps the train derails because you're not putting it on the track correctly to begin with? Or perhaps you're running it too fast?

We've had our train for a few months now and have run the daylights out of it. When finished running it we put the cars back into the box and hang the track up on the wall. The cars are very durable FOR A MODEL - you simply can't expect them to be Tonka truck quality!

Sorry that you feel that this is such a horrible product but perhaps you're overstating and being a little irrational to steer people away from it. I spent over an hour on the phone today with AT&T being transferred to 8 different people trying to resolve one simple problem. Does this mean that AT&T and their services are 1 star quality? No. I've been using them for years and so have lots of other people. I mean, get a grip. Take some responsibility. Figure out how to run your train - that's what MODELS are for! You have to run and maintain them like they're real. That's the joy of model railroads!

We love our train so much that we're building a special table for it and plan on having it for a long time!
