3.0 out of 5 stars Bioshock 2 works fine, but Bioshock 1 will not run, October 30, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bioshock Dual Pack [Online Game Code] (Software Download)
I bought this because it is a fantastic deal, currently better than the deal that steam is offering. Glad i bought it, Bioshock 2 is very fun, but for some reason Bioshock 1 keeps crashing when opened. I tried re-installing, troubleshooting, and downloading updates. None of these worked. Does anyone have any idea how i can get Bioshock working? Does anyone else have a similar problem?

yeah microsoft made a big mess with the pc platform with their "microsoft games for windows live" for pc, just download it and
be ready to apply a bunch of updates too, after that the game will be fixed and you will be able to run it
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc
the game needs it for DRM stuff and there's more games that needs this crap so they can run, im a pc guy but i dont know why microsoft
is just making it harder for us to even play a game just for the DRM BS! =D have a nice day

Not sure if you figured out how to work it but I had to run bioshock in compatibility mode. I also had a sound issue after the intro cutscene, there are some driver issues but when i plugged my mic in the sound seemed to work. But both theses problems are easily googleable.
