This review is from: GoToMyPC (App)
This is something I've been waiting (and asking) for for quite some time. I've been a GoToMyPC customer for a few years now. I like the service and have been able to use it from many locations, including my cell phone (using PocketView). Unfortunately, PocketView is no longer (officially) supported, which left me wondering what to do when I upgrade my (quite dated) phone.
The answer is my Kindle Fire. Obviously, this is a new app (as of today), so I can't say if there are any bugs or issues. However, I've already accessed one of my multi-monitor systems successfully with it. The gestures and transparent on-screen mouse provide a much better interface than the PocketView interface that I've been using. I like the intuitive, multi-touch zoom especially. (Yes, I know that's fairly standard now, but it wasn't when PocketView came out.)
One thing I did discover is that one of my PCs had an older version (6.x) of the client software and it hadn't auto-updated (to 7.x) for some reason. (It also seemed to think that there wasn't a newer version out there.) The GoToMyPC app on my Kindle told me that I needed to upgrade it to connect. Through a PC, I'd never had an issue. Apparently there is some kind compatibility issue when connecting to 6.x software. A quick upgrade (on the PC) and that issue was fixed for me.
I'm looking forward to getting some mileage out of this software.
