This review is from: Neewer 110CM 43" 5-in-1 Collapsible Multi-Disc Light Reflector (Camera)These reflectors were Neewer brand and come folded 1/3 their total size, making a storage radius of about 16 inches. The product photo is just about right in scale. They unpack free from their carrying case and open to radius 43 inches (110 cm) which translates - for a person 5 foot 8 inches - that they rise from the floor to about waist level. The central ring has the diffuser, while the zip-away 'jacket' has four sided reflector panels - gold, silver, white and black - which must be turned to desired surface - and then the diffuser ring re-inserted for rigidity. The dual toggle on the zipper allows all side access.
The outer ring construction is a flat band of flexible 3/8 inch metal which remains rigid enough to clamp on its black fabric frame but flexible enough to triple fold without snapping. The zipper was also unexpectedly more durable than those reported in some reviews but since folding creates billowing in the fabric, exercise care to keep it out of the zipper track... a no brainer.
I didn't think the product photo did the reflective surfaces justice ... they were surprisingly much more durable than the picture seems to depict. Silver and gold surfaces were durable, medium duty cloth covered with metallic surfacing of high reflective gloss. The white and black "flag" reflectors were also medium duty cloth with prepared surface. The diffuser, as expected, was much more delicate. It is after all a diffuser, not a reflector. It seems to have a fine lightweight nylon thread running through it, with perhaps a flexible clear plastic fill. I'm not going to lie to you ... tossing the diffuser ring around will be a good way to rip it, but why?
Folding was a challenge, as is any pop-up until you get the hang of it. After the epiphany of trifold, folding is relatively quick with zip-up snag free and secure. I'm glad I bought two.
TIP: A good folding method is to grab the ring steering wheel style, then move one hand outside the ring with your fist facing down (opposite to the other hand). Twist and the ring falls into a kind of natural stack of rings. On YouTube: "How to fold a reflector in two easy steps", or query "folding a popup reflector"
