On a future Mars, colonists are formed into caste societies. Children are assigned duties based upon their colors--and they are bioengineered for their roles. You eat based upon your output--and if your team doesn't produce, your rations are cut. There's no mercy and lives are short and brutal. Darrow's a sixteen-year-old miner, already wed until his wife is killed quite literally for a song. He's enlisted into a conspiracy to infiltrate a leadership school.
The story's one of a huge handful of dystopics coming out for young adult readers still hungry after finishing "Hunger Games." Writing is skillful for a debut, the characters and world are well-built and definitely show potential for movies or television. I would recommend this to any fan of young adult or sci-fi literature and I believe the following books will be even better.
