poor product and poor service,
This review is from: HP CB782A#ABA 640 Inkjet Fax Machine (Office Product)
HP 640 Inkjet printer is defective. When unable to begin operations based on set-up instructions in manual,
called HP Service number provided. After ultimately finding the appropriate tech service person, he prescribed various diagnostics to get machine operative. All failed. He informed me that it was defective.
HP refused to replace the new machine that was bought. HP said the only remedy was to return the defective new machine to them at customer's own expense. And that HP would only replace it with a used refurbish machine. Service people were rude and continually placed customer on hold. Poor product, poor service.

Sounds like you didn't buy your HP Fax machine through Amazon. I've never had Amazon question a return, and they've paid the shipping on the few products that I felt were defective or had been misrepresented in the descriptions!

I had the same frustrating problem with the machine as well as with HP. Will avoid purchasing HP products. A new machine is useless, never used, never connected.

Could you be specific in what troubles you encountered? I had no setup problems since setup was essentially connecting the AC and telephone line then setting up the menu as outlined in manual. Have had device for 2 years - no problems and for low puchase price, a real bargain.

Consumers want reliability and hearing a reference from someones personal experience gives value to the worst case scenario. As a conscientious shopper we have to make decisions based on community input and commentary. Thank you Joseph P. Stockton CA
