Realistic and yet positive and hopeful book...,
This review is from: Step Ahead of Autism: What You Can Do to Ensure the Best Possible Outcome for Your Child (Paperback)
Anne Moore Burnett has written an easy to read, 140 page book about her 20 plus years raising an autistic child. She has broken the book down into ten steps that parents can do to help their child reach his/her highest potential.
This is a hopeful, realistic and yet positive book that will inspire parents if they ever feel like giving up. Burnett's son was diagnosed at age 2 at the severe end of the autism spectrum, and he went on to become the valedictorian of his class (a non-special needs class.) She had to work her way through the ten steps, and in this book she assists other parents to tackle each step as well. There are even a few questionnaires and worksheets.
I really enjoyed this book, and I think any parent of an autistic child would find it helpful.
