Ordered a 36 for my husband who wears 36 waist pants, and all his other belts are 36, but this belt was literally 36 inches long, so wasn't long enough. Either it was mismarked, or just runs small. Better give yourself some extra 'breathing' room.

With mens belts you actually have to buy a size up. So if your husband wears a size 36, in belts he should wear a 38 (confusing, huh?). Amazon used to have a chart under sizing info that explained this, but they must have taken it down!

Indeed. A 36 belt is always exactly 36 inches. If you have a 36 inch waist, you need a 38 belt.
