5.0 out of 5 stars DEAR MR. KELLY, I'M WRITING YOU BACK...SUPERB!, June 27, 2012

This review is from: Write Me Back (Audio CD)
Oh my goodness. With this CD, R. Kelly has just cemented himself as one of the greatest R&B artists of all time. I just don't know where to begin. The lyrics are superb. The arrangements are superb. The production is superb. The writing is superb. The singing is superb. The rhythm of every song on the CD is superb. The choice for the order of the song list is superb. It is nothing short of masterful and it is what perfection should, and does sound like. I am too impressed.

In this CD, R. Kelly pays homage to some of the greatest R&B artists of our time. You will experience the flavor of Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Ron Isley, Michael Jackson, a little bit of Ray Charles and yes, even some Little Anthony. He does this all while at the same time keeping it incredibly spicy and current. The beats are funky as heck.

Dear Mr. Kelly, I'm writing you back. This is real music and it is truly received with love and appreciation. Thank you R. Kelly for your hard work on the production of this CD and for putting the `R' and `B' back into R&B. For sure, you are the master of rhythm!

I hope you wrote back on the post card because I think he needs to hear that. He took a serious risk going this route and when artist take a different route from the norm it is hard to come back especially if the album doesn't do well. This was a very nice review and if I didn't listen to it before buying it and went with your review, it definitely would have helped me!

I second the motion. I Hear a little Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Barry White, Elvis Presley, Mel Waters and the Blue Notes, and a whole lotta inspired Michael Jackson in these excellent, infectious, perfectious songs that R. Kelly has written and performed himself. He is nothing short of a Genius in my Book. Love Love Love me some R. Kelly!!

I second that emotion my friend. It is a pleasure to hear real music for a change. Let's hope that other artists follow his lead. I think that, as of now, only Eric Benet and R. Kelly are putting out music that is pleasing to the ear. They are also one of the few artists that made sure that the music was produced well. The bass is where it's supposed to be. The treble is where it's supposed to be. There is no static and hum...etc. Good production means everything to me. I equally like how El Debarge's last CD was produced. You can also add to that list Johnny Gill and Brian McKnight's last CD's. These CD's were produced well, written well and the singing on all of them are superb and have a wonderful flow to them. This should, however, be the standard but instead, is the rarity. Ahh...to hear music that does not vex the spirit or the ear drum. Wish that there was more of it. Maria
