Won't Install After Download nor Run...Amazon & EA Give Me The Run Around,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Sims 3 [Download] (Software Download)
I have gone through about 6 redownloads via Amazon's downloader. Averaged about 2.5 hour downloads. Every time I download completely and click on "Install" on the Amazon Downloader, NOTHING HAPPENS. I go into the file & click on "Autorun" & NOTHING HAPPENS (it originally would launch the Sims 3 Launcher, I would click "play" and it would ask me to insert disc...for a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD). I go into the file & click on "Sims3Setup", InstallShield Wizard loads, & when it stops loading, I get an error message saying that "Sims 3 version 1.00.632 is already installed. This installs version 1.0.631. You must uninstall previous versions in order to install this version." I contacted Amazon, and they sent me straight to EA tech support. I sent them an email 3 days ago & still have not been responded to. So, I have been live chatting with EA for the past 2.5 days UNSUCCESSFULLY. They said that my issue was complicated & needed to be sent to a "Senior Advisor"...I waited 50 minutes for this Senior Advisor, got to number 1 in the queue, & then go a message saying that no Advisor was available & that the chat was cancelled. REALLY?! Amazon and Electronic Arts should be ASHAMED of themselves. A digital download should NOT be this difficult. My PC is about 2.5 years old and meets all of the requirements. So, what is the problem?? This feels like $35 DOWN THE DRAIN! I WANT MY MONEY BACK, OR A LEGITIMATE DISC!!!!!!!!

Call your credit card company and see if they can help you. It's easier if you just did it, but if you tell them the situation, they might very well give you a refund anyhow. Amazon usually comes through very well about this also. Sometimes the downloads don't work. Sometimes the DISCS don't work. They should be able to see if you used it or not.

This might be a pain to do, but if you are stuck with the download still, try downloading Origin from EA. Create an account (if you dont already have one) and at their website, register the game using the Activation code Amazon provides. Once registered, EA will allow you to download the software via Origin. I had to do this for Mass Effect 2. It kept getting corrupted thru Amazon's downloader, so I went the EA's site, dl'ed Origin, registered product, then downloaded ME2 after registration. It downloaded at good speeds, and installed without a single problem. I've had many problems and errors after some game dl on Amazon's downloader, so maybe all files weren't downloaded and it's asking those questions. I hope this helps any.

This was done prior to Origin being mandatory with Sims 3, but the codes should work with it now, that way it downloads an updated installer from the EA servers instead of the old one from Amazon.
