Made me realize how important your speakers are.,
This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series CS1 Center Channel Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I bought this speaker a couple of weeks ago and if I could give this thing a 11/10 I would. The sound quality on this thing is such a large leap over my previous center(a Yamaha that I got with a Home Theater in a Box set) I also upgraded my rear speakers to Polk Audio M3II's so it really helps the over quality of my surround sound. I already own some vintage Samsai SP-X9's for my fronts, so it's nice having some speakers that can keep up with it. I can not stress enough about NOT getting Home Theater in a Box sets. This is a mistake that I made twice before just forking out a little extra for a decent mid range receiver You're better off getting a good receiver, a center and two fronts then start upgrading from there(which the next step should be a sub woofer before you get your rears, IMO) I noticed a difference going from my old receiver with my current receiver, but I really didn't know what I was missing until now. I live in an apartment, so I couldn't possibly imagine going any more high end with my set up. Games sound amazing(just got done playing God of War 3 in 7.1 PCM), the movies I've tested on Blu-Ray sound crystal clear and music is far superior to just about anything I've heard. I actually bought this speaker off Ebay for a low price but the quality of it I would easily pay $150 for it if I had to. The last thing I mention is that like other reviews have stated, this thing is BIG. I have a 50" Plasma and this thing looks massive mounted above that so it might be something to consider if you are pairing it with a smaller TV. I mean seriously, the front end is actually bigger than my receiver. At the end of the day, it's the sound quality that matters most in a speaker, not the look so if you are upgrading a HTIB speaker, you are in for a surprise in the drastic leap in quality.
