Disclosure: I passed the exam and found this book helpful. I have over 14 years of OO software development experience but have only used Java intermittently. After reading the previous comments I got a soft copy of this book. Prior to that I started on Mughal but found that many of its topics were not part of the exam. I liked its contents but decided it wasn't the best book for the purpose of passing the exam. Then I read through Sierra and Bates where I consistently scored around 50% on its questions in the book and CD. Its questions are tougher than the exams with many trick gotcha samples that I didn't find in the exam. I didn't particularly like the "check all apply" questions. You won't find them in the real exam. Thinking that I need more help I decided to give this book a try. First off its brevity is certainly attractive. Why read 1000+ pages when you could get the same with half the pages. I read through this book in a week and did all the questions. My score has been around 70%. My exam score was 75% so in that sense it's a pretty good proxy of how well you'll do. This book is not for beginners and I agree it should be used in conjunction with other books.
