2.0 out of 5 stars Beware magazine's billing practices!!!, May 11, 2013
This review is from: FamilyFun (1-year auto-renewal) (Magazine)
In Dec/Jan 2013, I received an offer in the mail to get 30 issues for $12. Instead of renewing at a higher rate, I sent a $12 payment for this surprising deal and then, weeks later, started getting bills for over $16 telling me to pay for what I order. These look like bills for a renewal but I think it is actually billing me extra for the 30 issues. I emailed customer service when I checked my account online to try to figure out the bills and didn't see any evidence of my $12 payment or order. Customer Service initially told me that it couldn't find my $12 payment "after much research" so I told them to cancel it and consider me done with the publication and that they shouldn't be sending renewal notices that look like "due on receipt" bills to bully people into renewing. Then I got yet another bill from them telling me I have to pay for what I have ordered and it references 30 issues so this is either trying to get more money out of me for what I've already bought OR a very early renewal notice for the 30 issues that I have already bought. I have been getting these bills by email and in the mail. I checked my account on-line again and, ta-da!, $12 has posted to my account with another "amount due" of over $16. Since they were eager to cash the check that they had lost in the first place after I told them that I did NOT want the magazine anymore, I have told them that I want my $12 back and to stop the insulting and mystifying bills. It is not a useful magazine now and it is not worth the time I've spent trying to keep them from cheating me. If I get any satisfaction, I will update. As for content, it is now too similar to the other parenting magazines I get and is full or ads and 4 "fall out" subscriber post-cards. Craft and activities ideas are free on the internet and there's little need to pay for the ads I already pay for in the other parenting mags. Got this because it didn't have ads but not now. Why it is suddenly so inexpensive -- or seemed to be at the time. If you want to try it, try it through Amazon in case you need an advocate with the billing. I wish I had.
