For those considering a stand, it is well worth it,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
1) Together with a Bluetooth keyboard for typing long email on iPad, especially where I go to local coffee shop
2) In the kitchen to read recipes
When folded up, the stand is compact (~7.25"x1.25"x~0.9") and light weight (~3.1oz). While it is constructed of robust plastic, it is still plastic, thus some care must be used (I select points to pull that are closer to the pivot points rather than at the ends, and I would not recommend allowing young children to use it). Also, the feet have foam-rubber strips so the stand "grips" smooth flat surfaces. I must point out that I like being able to set any angle I want, which is sometimes important where there is glare.
As an FYI, I have also purchased what looks to be an identical design from "Arkon" and I am similarly happy with the purchase.
I have 2 iPads, one with the leather cover and one with the plastic cover. At the angle I use, the cover can be tucked between the iPad and the stand and it is stable. I primarily have my iPad positioned in landscape so there are no issues connecting the 30-pin cable for charging purposes; however, should you choose to position your iPad in portrait, you should have the 30-pin connector on top (when I view in portrait mode, I ususally have the "home" key at the bottom thus the 30-pin connector is also at the bottom).
I have been impressed enough to purchase 3 for myself (I keep one in my iPad travel bag) and have even purchased a couple for gifts.

Thanks for including so much detail in your review. It is exactly what I needed to make the decision to buy.
