5.0 out of 5 stars SHOUT OUT TO U.S. VIEWERS, January 20, 2014
This review is from: Sherlock: Season 3 (Original UK Version) (DVD)
If you haven't already, DON'T watch the PBS broadcast of Sherlock Season 3. PBS edits the shows before airing. You won't see complete episodes.

I found this out after Season 1, when I bought the DVD's (NOTE: you can get the DVDs earlier from amazon.uk, though you'll need an all-region DVD player to watch them). I realized I was seeing entire scenes that PBS didn't broadcast. A crucial scene in "A Study in Pink", where the murderer reveals his motivation, was cut short on PBS. So you never know until you watch the DVD why he did the murders.

Really unconscionable of PBS to manhandle such a great series.

They usually do edit, but for season 3 PBS DID NOT edit anything out

Any idea? Thanks

Amazon Prime plays them in their full 90 minute run time. Can't answer for Netflix though.

PBS has made the decision to air Series 3 episodes in their entirety, no commercials or edits! Amazon shows the unedited versions, as does Netflix.

WRONG! PBS has never edited Sherlock, but in previous years showed versions edited by the production company to fit the Masterpiece time slot. This year, there are no cuts. And the wait after the UK premiere was much shorter.

So I didn't have to buy the DVD from Amazon.UK for my all-region player. I bought the BluRay here & it will arrive 2/11/14....

There were no commercials during the PBS airing on television. I can't speak to what they showed online, but on TV all commercials aired before and after, rather than during, each episode.
