Better get your hands off my game - Mom,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Just Dance 2 - Nintendo Wii (Video Game)
First of all, I'm 40, Mom, I have 2 kids.
I have Just Dance, and I was on the fence about this game until I read the song list.
I LOVE this game. My kids LOVE it. We play "duet" mode constantly trading places on the dance floor.
My kids are between 7 and 10 and the songs have been edited so any inappropriate lyrics have been "omitted". I've only seen it happen on the song "toxic", but I was impressed that they did that. With Just Dance, Katy Perry sings Hot and Cold and a couple of lyrics could have been omitted without losing the song.
I'm also totally impressed with the variety of genres they have covered. We dance hip hop, latin, disco, techno, and electronic... totally made me want to buy some glow sticks, have a rave. Unbelievably fun workout. If we had the space for 8 people to dance, I'd get more controllers.

Thanks for noting that the game omitted offensive lyrics! I'll consider buying the product now! :)

You only use one remote no matter how many people play so you don't need to get any more.

I wanted to note that most expletives have been edited out--however, we noticed that one of the songs included the word "damn." Also, although "beer" and "tipsy" are not expletives, they are left in tact in "Tick Tock." My children are under the recommended age, so, when they are playing, we avoid those songs. However, I personally feel that the lyrics should have still been altered, as it is not appropriate to condone alcohol consumption to kids and teens.

That very song is the reason I haven't given this game to my daughter yet. I really don't need my 7-year-old singing about brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack or having plenty of beer or kicking the boys to the curb. (I might change my mind about that last one when she hits her teenage years, though.) Is there any sort of parental lock that will let me choose which songs are available?

I agree, there are some words and phrases that I would prefer my kids not hearing, and this reason makes me not allow my kids to play this game without supervision. "Brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack, etc." Unfortunately, there is not a parental lock that I know of. I really wish there were, or even the ability to remove songs completely. This makes me hesitant to buy any of the other Just Dance versions. My kids love the dancing, but I don't like some of the words they are being exposed to, even if they are not true obscenities...and I have instead told them that they are not allowed to play certain songs.
