Important, Thorough, and Accessible,
This review is from: Overcoming the Digital Divide: How to Use Social Media and Digital Tools to Reinvent Yourself and Your Career (Paperback)
With the majority of working professionals' faces immersed in a computer screen in one form or another, it's more important than ever to be "cyber savvy." "Overcoming the Digital Divide" is a lesson in the changing networking landscape, and how to evolve with it. While I'm not of the "49 and F*#ked!" set, I have allowed technology to overwhelm me, throwing my arms up in surrender and frustration. "It moves so fast there's not point." If one doesn't stay abreast of technological developments, particularly as it pertains to career development, and it's integral part in networking, one should not be surprised to find themselves underemployed or worse.
I never thought I'd say this about a non-fiction book, but there's a deeper theme within its pages: the importance of networking is more important than ever! The book's thoroughness goes beyond social networking methods; showing the necessity of maintaining technological literacy. Whether you need to update your "cyber saviness," or have only just realized its importance, this book is required reading. The good news? Mr. Palmer and Mr. Raffensperger have made "Overcoming the Digital Divide" a fast, understandable, and light read. I find myself returning to it again and again, not only to remind me of the virtues of technology, but also to inspire and motivate me professionally! If you're stagnate in your career, be it in job hunting, or keeping pace with the times, read this book!
