Flakey power cord,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter (Works with 6", 9.7" Display, 2nd and Latest Generation Kindles) (Accessory)
My Kindle is two years old and today I noticed the flakey insulation on my power cord. I immediately contacted Amazon and they said that they had a bad batch of cords (now fixed) and very quickly credited my account for a new one. Their customer service was amazing! My rating here is obviously for their dealing honestly and quickly to the problem, not for the original defective cord.

Thanks for the comment!! I have 2 kindles and both I had for about 2 years. Mine did the same exact thing last night. It fell apart. Good thing I didn't have the cord plugged in at the time. I've just contacted Amazon and waiting for a response.

I didn't know I wasn't the only one with the faulty power cord. I assumed I'd somehow damaged the cord but I had no idea how. Thanks for the info. And yes, the customer service was excellent for me as well. Keep it up amazon.

You're welcome and an Update! The only problem now is that my kindle is dead out of juice and the cords won't be delivered till 9/27/11 as Amazon is predicting... One of those time I wish I had one of the newer kindle that last a bit longer :P

Just call again, and they will credit you to get the Charger Replacement, instead of the USB replacement, so you can get it quicker!

I just received an email that states I will get the charger instead of the USB replacement. I guess they ran out of stock because they mentioned backorder.

Thanks for your comment! I just had the same exact issue. I called them, and they immediately put a promotional code to purchase the replacement. It was great customer service and very easy to handle. Now, the cable is definitely bad, and I hope the new one is different.

I have been wrapping black electrical tape around the power cord for the last 2 month's or so. Cheap, but effective. Yesterday, I noticed that it was not charging at all and I would have to buy a new power cord . I have had my Kindle less than 1 year, and have purchased well over.. 100 books. You can probably understand my anger at having to Buy something that should be.. free. Thanks for the info. I found out from a different Poster that some cell phone power cords work, and mine did. Tho, I still would like a power cord from Amazon. Just Because.

My Kindle recharge cord disintegrated in my hands as I was heading to the outlet to plug it in! Wasn't sure what to do, so I contacted Amazon customer service where they credited my account for the cost of the replacement cord, and were exceptionally kind and professional in the process!! Your customer service technicians and process is unparralleled in my years-long consumer experience... Thank You Will!!
