3.0 out of 5 stars The license covers three home machines, April 30, 2007
By
This review is from: Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 [Old Version] (Software)
The "Home and Student" license is for non-commercial use only. The product requires activation, which includes sending machine identification information to Microsoft.

The good news is that the license allows installation on up to three machines and (over time) you can transfer the license to new systems.

From the license: "You may install one copy of the software on three licensed devices in your household for use by people who reside there. ... During activation, the software will send information about the software and the device to Microsoft. ... You may reassign the license to a different device any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days."

Thanks for the info about the option to install this software on up to three different computers in my home.

i must say thank-you to the one who produced the above-mentioned review. re-assignment of the product license is a great feature and a 90 day limitation of the license to any one device is a major supersaver!

I too agree that it was good to let us know that it can be installed on three computers and can be reassigned. Microsoft has made it very confusing on what you can do with their software. I am still in the dark about upgrades. I don't know if I have to have the old version before a new version will work.

Awesome review! We all know what Office does....but the info for the number of licenses and ability to re-assign licenses (with the time limitation) isn't something most people would know off the bat. Much appreciated.

Can you explain what you mean by the 90 day license limitation to one device? I am so unsure of downloading Office 2010...once I buy it, isn't it good forever? I don't even know why Office stopped working on my computer. I just want to be able to use this new Office 3 times in case my computer crashes and I need to buy a new one...
