Early Modern Chinese Poetry,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Twentieth Century Chinese Poetry: An Anthology (Paperback)
This is a replacement for my worn-out 1964 Anchor paperback. I read it so much that the book was more tape than paper. It presents an excellent collection of pre-60's Chinese poetry, running a gamut of moods and influences. Much was written during a period of social distress and war. Even Mao Zedong gets space for classically inspired works. But the variety and number of poets gives a wonderful exposure to their talent and "soulful yearnings". A must for any budding or even serious student of Eastern life.
