Not as good as previous New Balance shoes,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: New Balance Men's MX623v2 Cross-Training Shoe (Shoes)
New Balance doesn't make the style I used to wear, so I bought this one because it seemed to be the closest to what I used to have. I'm very disappointed with the shoe. I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks now, and I thought that would be enough time for the stiffness to work itself out. I was wrong. They're still as stiff as the day I took them out of the box. Also, there's not as much room in the toe as in previous models, so my pinkie toes always hurt by the end of the day. I won't give up on these shoes just yet though; I'm hoping they'll start to feel better soon.

Did you decide to keep them for good? I used to wear the 1623 and loved it. Am really having a hard time finding a replacement for it, so any feedback you can give on this shoe is much appreciated.

Yeah, I decided to keep them. Partly because I don't think Amazon would let me return them after this long :)
They're slowly starting to feel more comfortable, but I'm afraid the toe area will never feel quite right. I still have my old shoes and when I compare them with the new ones side by side, it's clearly visible. There's just not as much toe room in the new shoes. Also, when putting on the old shoes and then the new shoes right after, I can feel a difference in the arch support: the old shoe has more support.
Good luck on your search for a replacement. I really don't think I'd recommend these shoes.

Sounds like you need the next larger size.

Here's some advice - No such thing as breaking in - if it doesn't fit well new it "might" stretch out with use, of course "stretching" stresses out the shoe to wear out quicker - advice was given to me by an ortopaedic doctor.

I have always worn New Balance 623, and before that, the 622..it seems this "version 2" of the 623 is not as good. Has anyone found a later or updated version similar to the original 623? Please kindly advise and thanks in advance!

I have been wearing the 623 line for about 5 years. I found the new v2 versions made in indo. (I'm not spelling that!). run small. I used to have 11.5. Now I have found that the 12.5 fit better, but the side rim of the shoes cut in to the side of the foot. Not to comfortable when driving long periods....
