A wonderful read,
This review is from: Burn Down the Ground: A Memoir (Hardcover)
This book was a pleasure to read. Kambri Crews lays out all of her life story - the heartwarming parts and the bonechilling ones - so honestly and without too much nostalgia or self-pity. She explains elements of her parents' deafness without dwelling on it, giving enough background for people who may not be familiar with the Deaf community but also showing readers how living with Deaf parents was a very natural part of her everyday life. She examines how deafness shaped the lives of her parents, but also shows them as complex individuals who are a sum of so many life circumstances and choices, not just deafness. Well done!
