wonderful version bad reproduction,
This review is from: Sibelius: Complete Symphonies (Audio CD)The 4th symphony by Maazel and the VPO has always been one of my favorites. The CD reproduction proposed here is particularely bad, overworked by computarized "enhancements". Th wonderful sound of the original has become thick, heavy, with no space. What a pitty. Compare with the BELART CD to undersd what I mean, which is not yet perfect, but already much better if I tack the vynil as a reference.

I've never had any difficulty listening to this set, but I have to agree with you that the old London LPs sound quite a bit better, warmer and clearer.

Not finding fault with the recorded sound, in fact the stereo mix is one of the best Sibelius cycles.
