Buy the same thing for cheaper,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Flip Video Tripod (Camera)This is a good tripod for the Flip Ultra, but why not buy either of these two instead? They are a lot less money and is pretty much exactly the same thing!:
Vanguard VS41 Flexible MiniTripod
Sunpak 620-786 Mini-Spider Tripod
Really the only difference is the Vanguard model doesn't come with the different color feet and it doesn't say 'Flip'.
Or you could get the Gorilla Pod:
Joby GP1-01EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Grey)
which is a bit more versatile in that you can attach it to a pole or edge of a chair, etc.
A mini tripod really makes it easier to do videos since you can put it almost anywhere yet still get your Flip Ultra level. It also provides more stability to better prevent it from toppling over.

Have you used the Gorillapod w the Flip Ultra Video camcorder? The specs on the Gorillapod say it can be used with cameras up to 9+ oz but the Flip Ultra is 12 oz.

Yes I have. The Gorillapod works quite well with the Flip Ultra if you position the Gorillapod legs correctly.

Hi and thanks for the Flip tripod review. Do you know if this tripod will work on the basic Flip camera (i.e., NOT the ultra or mino)??? Want to buy for my daughter's birthday but need to be sure about the tripod. Have emailed same question to Flip but who knows when I'll hear back. Thanks so much for your time! -Kirsten in VA

How does $1.49 delivered sound? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku
The only problem with DealExtreme is that everything is shipped from Hong Kong and takes 3-4 weeks to be delivered.
All of these tripods use the standard 1/4-20 threaded screw.

Oh, c'mon, Mediahound, that Flip Tripod is only about six bucks more, and has a free-shipping option. What do you get for that extra six bucks? The Flip logo on it that's what! Don't you want to make a fashion statement to impress your friends when they drop in? Look, that's about the price of two double cappuccinos at Starbucks, and less than you'll pay to see the latest godawful Hollywood movie in the theater. Hey, live a little! (and take this comment with a huge grain of salt).

thanks for the tip Mediahound! for the purpose of using it at home on top of a table, this will work for me. once we start looking at outdoor or not having the option of a flat surface, gorrillapod will be my next purchase.
for those that are skeptical about the weight, I think this youtube video says it all: http://youtu.be/CWSOpsrcXhU
