4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good., October 10, 2011

Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wasabi Power Battery for Panasonic DMW-BCK7, NCA-YN101G and Panasonic Lumix Cameras (Electronics)
I bought this almost at the same time as I bought DMC-FH27 camera, so I can compare this one and the genuine Panasonic one side by side. I don't know about the longevity of neither yet, but if I find something interesting I'll update the review.

Anyway, so far, this seems to work just fine. Panasonic charger doesn't have any issue with it, and it holds the charge just as good as the "genuine" one. So far so good.

The battery proudly says "Premium battery from Japan" and "Made in China" at the same time (you can see it in the product picture), and that made me chuckle. Theoretically it's not impossible that Wasabi Power is a Japanese brand and that it was made in China and then transported to Japan and finally imported to USA, but I kind of doubt that. Hey Wasabi Power people, that's an unnecessary marketing!

John says:
I notice the label says "Premium cells from Japan" and then "Made in China" which I've seen on some other battery products, same as "Assembled in China with Japanese components" I guess. Hopefully the Japanese cells are of a better quality (and won't damage your camera or burn your house down if they overheat?). Who knows, when I took electronics in college there were no Ni-MH batteries.

But, I'm going to buy and try this battery pack. Panasonic makes some great point and shoot cameras (at least I love my ZS3 and have bought a couple of FH-2's on sale for friends) but the battery cost situation with the "chipped" models is less than desirable. What if your in the middle of nowhere or in another country and you need a new battery? I know, carry at least 2.
