Why American kids and adults are getting more obese,
This review is from: Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal (Paperback)
I just finished reading Fast Food Nation after Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma," and it is a great, informative, easy, and disturbing read. From labor practices by these mega fast food corporations to what feedlots are like for the majority of this nation's cows, to how McDonald's french fries were not vegetarian at all, to an agenda for change by both consumer and corporation, Eric Schlosser hits it all here. This should be required reading for 7th-12th graders as well as any adult. I haven't frequented a fast food establishment in at least three years, and reading this makes me want to NEVER enter one again for the rest of my life. The fast food lifestyle Eric describes is a good place to start in understanding America's obesity epidemic.
